1. Green Fees –

RIBA Members:                   2-hour session £3.50 per player (Juniors £2).

RIBA Members:                   3-hour session £4.50 per player

Non-member Veterans:        3-hour session £5.50 per player

Non-member Evenings:       2-hour session £5.00.  Motion passed at RIBA / AGM 2026, to encourage the growth of the evening league. 

(2 evenings a week for £10)

The following rules are for ALL the leagues that operate within Radnorshire Indoor Bowls Association (RIBA).

1. All team players ** must be registered in the team they are representing.  Additional players can be added to a team throughout the season; however, these additional players must also be registered.  The total number of team members must not exceed the maximum number allowed, as stated in rule number 1.

1. Should a team member become unable to play in a team permanently, for whatever reason, the team representative can make a request to the League or Competition’s secretary, in writing, (email above) to remove the player from their team and (should they wish), replace that player with another.  The player brought in must be a RIBA member * and cannot have represented another team in the same league in that same season.

1. THURSDAY VETS ONLY – All players are to be aged 60 or over on 1st October 2026

1. There are to be no trial ends, and all games are to be played straight off.

1. Only 1 visit to the head (by the skip) is permitted per end.

1. Mat is to be placed, and the jack delivered before the bell is sounded at the end of the session.

1. If a match is scheduled before/after the start time, then the two/three hours playing time is to be agreed upon, by the skips.  The start time is to be noted prior to a bowl being delivered.

1. If a team is not present within ten minutes of a scheduled start time the opposition has the right to claim the points.

1. No games are to be played after the date on the fixture list, unless postponed by the League or Competition’s secretary due to bad weather or unforeseen circumstances.

1. Any game may be brought forward by mutual consent of both teams.  The Original Rink Booking is to be cancelled by the team representative of the team requesting the date changewhen the new booking is made.

Failure to cancel it will result in Rule 12 being implemented.

1. Any team unable to play on the day will forfeit the game and will be responsible for paying the £5 rink cancellation fee for the rink.  Unless this is due to unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather and dangerous travelling conditions, the League or Competition’s secretary may allow a game to be played after the due date if notified in sufficient time.

1. If the rink is cancelled within a minimum of 48hrs notice, then the fees are not due as the rink can be re-booked.

        If a team has forfeited a game, then the opposition will be awarded 2 points.

1. If, in Rink’s play, a team can only field 3 players the lead and second are to play with three bowls each, and the skip with two bowls.  At the end of the game 25% is to be deducted from their total score.

Note: The full rink fee is still payable between the 3 players.

1. At the end of the season, the overall winner will be the team with the most points.  In the event of a tie there will be a play off.

1. Dress Code should be white over greys (or club colours), except for Monday & Thursday Evening Leagues.

1. Cash Prizes will be awarded at the end of the season, to the winners and runners up [to the maximum number of players allowed in each team (see rule 1)]; following the RIBA - AGM.

1. In the event of the jack being hit out of the sides of a rink, it will be replaced on one of the two predefined spots on the rink, which are level with the 2m 'T' and half way between the centre line of the rink and the edge of the rink, before the next bowl is delivered or the end decided.  If the jack is hit off the right-hand side of the rink it shall be repositioned on the right predefined spot, if it is hit off the left side of the rink it shall be repositioned on the left predefined spot.  When the predefined spot is occupied by a bowl, the jack shall be repositioned at the nearest available position along the line between the predefined points and the centre line of the rink, but not touching an obstructing bowl.

1. If a team representative needs to obtain a ruling about any matters relating to these league rules, please bring the issue to the attention of the League or Competition’s secretary.

League or Competition’s secretary - Guidance

The League or Competition’s secretary have provided the above rules to ensure that all players abide by them, and by doing so it is hoped that we will avoid any disputes.

There have previously been some examples of players attempting to put their own interpretation on the rules, to suit their own purposes and this is not acceptable.

As cash prizes are awarded to the winners and the runner up in the league competitions, it is very important that all competitors strictly comply with the league rules.  In particular, any team that is unable to play on the set day, for whatever reason, will forfeit the game unless rearranged and will be responsible for paying the appropriate rink cancellation fee, for the rink if not cancelled in time (i.e. 48 hours prior to the scheduled match).

Under NO circumstances can a team play for double points in any of the above league competitions.

The League or Competition’s secretary reserves the right to impose appropriate sanctions on any team, in breach of the above rules and these sanctions could include the deduction of league points or even the expulsion of the offending team(s) from the relevant competition.

In the event of any dispute(s), it / they should be raised with the League or Competition’s secretary, and their decision is final with no further right of appeal.
